The highest rank, "Legend," can only be earned by those who visit the Sakauchi Mobile Club 250 times within one year of registering. "Kaigo Kaigo," who visits Kitakata Ramen Sakauchi almost every day, is the first legend in the history of the Sakauchi Mobile Club.

One weekday in late November, I got the chance to talk to him right away, and spoke with our company president, Nakahara.

 

 

・Legendary point 1: He commutes to school by bus, 20 minutes every day

President Nakahara (hereinafter referred to as President):I assumed that he lived nearby because he comes every morning. I never imagined that he would take the 20-minute bus ride to get there, and that he was still actively working... I have nothing but respect for him.

Kaigo Kaigo-sama (hereinafter referred to as Kaigo-sama):Yes, I come here on my way to take a walk. I'm single, and cooking and eating breakfast is a pain, so I come here on my way to take a walk.

president:I'm very happy. I heard from the manager that your favorite ramen is "Green Onion Ramen."

Dear Customer:Almost every day! I actually want to get the complimentary rice that's only available at lunchtime and pour a little bit of soup over it, but I hold back for the sake of my health.

president:You are taking care of your body.

 

・Legend Point②: Improve your numbers by eating ramen every day

Dear Customer:Actually, I'm suffering from early-stage diabetes. Since I started coming to Sakauchi, I was surprised that my numbers have gone down! I also eat less soup and almost always have onion ramen with thin noodles. I have dentures, but I take them out when I eat. But the noodles are soft, and the roast pork is soft too, so you can bite it off with your gums, which is great! I always try seasonal or limited edition ramen at least once.

president:I think this is wonderful, and I would love to officially release this data and promote it as "healthy ramen."

Dear Customer:I also tried the Mega Roast Pork Ramen, but I couldn't finish it (lol).

president:There are a lot of mega roast pork ramens out there. I'm very happy that you praised our roast pork.

Dear Customer:I'm happy because I don't have to struggle to eat. I come here every day, and I still say things like, "Today it was too salty," or "Today the noodles were too hard" (laughs).

president:I am grateful that the staff is being trained under your guidance. Your opinions are very valuable. Since the staff is eating the food, I believe that your comments are accurate.

Dear Customer:I've always loved ramen, but I couldn't find a restaurant that I thought was delicious. Then my wife at the time brought me here, saying, "This place is delicious." I took one bite and thought, "This is delicious!" and instantly became a fan!

president:We have never changed the taste of our ramen, and we check the texture of the noodles every month. We try not to disappoint our fans, but it makes us happy to hear such opinions.

 

・Legendary point 3: An extremely active 78-year-old

president:How do you spend your days off?

Dear Customer:I used to go to Nakano Sun Plaza once a month. I go to concerts and other events on my own initiative. I also love comedy. I think it's fine if people laugh even if I say something harsh.

president:I totally agree. You are a very active person.

Dear Customer:I like all sports. I used to be a table tennis player, so I like table tennis, but I also like baseball, sumo, and volleyball in general. I used to be a Giants fan, but now I don't care about any particular team. I'm moved by the way each member of a team plays for the team. When I see the players holding up the uniforms of teammates who couldn't play in the WBC or when the Hanshin Tigers won, or when I see them playing with all their might, I almost cry. I often go to Meiji Shrine in the summer.

president:As you say, this year was packed with sporting events and there were many good moments.

 

・Legend Point 4: The key to vitality is to enjoy life to the fullest

Dear Customer:When it comes to gambling, I decide when I'll finish and enjoy it little by little. Nowadays, everything is online and cashless, but I want to feel like I've won, so I always make sure to touch cash. That way, I feel like I've played the game.

president:I think it's important to get a real sense of reality. And it's clear that you're enjoying life very much.

Dear Customer:I tell people around me, "I spend money because I want to share delicious food and fun things with others." When I find something fun, I recommend it to my friends as soon as possible. It's good to be able to share. That's why I always treasure the connections I've made like this.

 

Kaigo Kaigo is a legend who eats ramen every day, has even had his chronic illness cured, and enjoys an active life. It was inspiring to see him coming to Sakauchi since he fell in love with us, and to hear about his love for us in person. At the same time, there were lessons and learnings that can only be learned through experience as Kaigo Kaigo talked about how to enjoy life, and we were able to spend a very meaningful ramen entertainment session.
