★About Sakura Line 311, a Certified Nonprofit Organization★
This is an organization that works to plant cherry trees at the points where the tsunami that occurred during the Great East Japan Earthquake reached its deepest points, in order to preserve the memory of the tsunami.
The maximum reach of the tsunami is about 170 km if drawn as a line.
In order to protect themselves and their loved ones if another tsunami hits Rikuzentakata, we are planting cherry trees at 10m intervals to create a row of 17,000 cherry trees, in order to preserve the memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake for future generations. As of the end of November 2019, 1,700 trees have been planted.
