The love of ramen is passed down at a genetic level!
___Since when have you, your mother, Yuka, liked Bannai?
Yuka: For me it's been about 14 or 15 years.
___Reno, how old were you when you started coming here?
Reno-kun:From around age 3!
Yuka:You've been coming to Sakauchi since before you could even remember.
It was really rare at the time.
I've become close with the store manager over the last three or four years.
Manager Kawamata: We've taken the liberty of becoming friendly with them.
Yuka:That's not true, thank you for always taking care of me.
___Have you always liked ramen?
Yuka: Yes, I was addicted to ramen and tsukemen.
I've loved it since I was young.
I basically love soy sauce ramen, so I always come to Sakauchi's.
Kitakata ramen is perfect to have while drinking or after drinking.
Recently, salt ramen has also become popular.
____What do you most often order?
Yuka: In winter, I like green chili salt ramen.
It wasn't available last year, but I also like the summer version.
Manager Kawamata: The winter version was popular, so we made a summer version too. The green pepper version is very popular.
___What do you like, Reno?
Reno-kun: Salt ramen and grilled pork rice.
I like something light, so I prefer salt ramen.
Yuka: It's the usual "please!" feeling.
___What do you like about roast pork rice?
Manager Kawamata: In the past, Reno-kun would just order the roast pork rice and get his mama's noodles.
Lately I've started eating both.
Yuka: Recently, thanks to your mom's influence (laughs), you've started to like salt.
___You've perfectly inherited your mom's love of ramen.
Yuka:Hey, you really love ramen, don't you?
Reno-kun: Whenever I talk about ramen I always think of this place!
They are so close that people mistake him for the manager's grandson.
___What else do you like about the store?
Yuka:That's right, Reno used to say that a lot since she was little (laughs).
For me it's the friendliness of this store.
Since I don't have many opportunities to talk to people while working from home, talking to Manager Kawamata and his wife has been a great source of comfort for me.
I feel relieved when I come here.
Manager Kawamata: Thank you!
As a store owner, creating a store where customers feel that way is what I want to aim for.
I started working at a greengrocer when I was 16 years old, and I owe a lot to the things I learned from the owner of the store.
That dad had a really great group of people behind him.
In a store, the products are important, but the people are just as important.
Yuka:Reno used to do karate, and when the national tournament was decided you were the first to come.
He said he'd go show it to the manager and brought over the certificate.
Manager Kawamata: I was surprised, but also happy!
That helped me get closer to Reno.
___Reno, did you want to show the manager your certificate first?
Manager Kawamata: When I talk to this kid, the other customers mistakenly think, "Is he the manager's grandson?" (laughs)
___Please tell us what you would like to see from Sakauchi in the future!
Yuka: I wish green peppers were available all year round.
I'd be happy if there were other innovative menu items.
Stamina or spicy ramen might also be good.
Reno-kun:Ah, I wish the size of the roast pork rice was a little bigger.
More char siu please!
I was so happy to get a coupon for a free piece of pork (lol).
Yuka:It really gives off a lived-in feel!
Manager Kawamata: Reno, you really like char siu, don't you?
Reno-kun: I like that it has both soft and hard parts.
Yuka: I prefer the char siu in roast pork rice to the char siu in ramen.
I have a particular preference!
At just 10 years old, Reno's passion for food is truly amazing!
The more I listened, the more I realized there was a deep bond between the Motoki family and Manager Kawamata.
The natural way we say "See you later" to each other makes us feel like relatives.
The warm relationship between Motoki and his son and the shop is likely to continue for a long time to come.
